Reveal Fresh, Radiant Skin
The MicroLaser Peel (MLP) is a gentle yet powerful laser treatment that removes the outermost layers of dull skin to reveal a smoother, healthier, more youthful complexion.
Known as the "weekend peel," it delivers noticeable results with minimal downtime—making it an ideal choice for busy patients who want real improvement without the recovery of more aggressive procedures.
What It Treats
Fine lines and wrinkles
Sun damage and pigmentation
Uneven skin tone and texture
Enlarged pores
Mild scars (e.g., from acne)
Dull or tired-looking skin
How It Works
The MicroLaser Peel uses a precision erbium laser to gently remove the uppermost layers of the skin.
This triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulating new collagen and revealing fresh, revitalized skin.
Unlike deeper laser treatments, the MicroLaserPeel provides dramatic improvement with shorter downtime and less discomfort.

MicroLaser Peel: at a glance
-
The MicroLaser Peel straddles the divide between deep and superficial. It is considered a medium depth laser.
-
Non-surgical, performed in the clinic.
-
Treatment Time: 30–45 minutes
Comfort: A topical numbing cream is often applied for your comfort. If a more shallow treatment is performed, then it can be done without topical numbing.Patients may experience some warmth or tingling during the laser procedure.
-
The MicroLaser Peel, while generally safe, does carry some potential risks and side effects. These include:
Common Side Effects
Redness and swelling: The treated area may feel like a sunburn and appear red and swollen for several days.
Itching and peeling: Minor sloughing and itchiness are normal, especially on the day following treatment.
Acne or milia: Temporary acne breakouts or tiny white bumps (milia) may occur, possibly due to the use of occlusive ointments during healing.
Potential Complications
Pigmentation Changes: Hyperpigmentation: Increased skin pigmentation, more common in patients with darker skin tones. Hypopigmentation: Decreased skin pigmentation, which can be long-lasting or permanent.
Infection: Viral infections: Herpes simplex virus (cold sore) outbreaks may occur. If you have a history of cold sores, they can be prevented with medication. Bacterial or fungal infections: These are possible but less common.
Scarring: Scarring is rare, but remains a potential risk.
Other Risks: Prolonged redness: In some cases, redness may persist longer than expected. Post-resurfacing contact dermatitis: Increased skin sensitivity to mild irritants, causing disproportionate irritation. Sun sensitivity: Treated skin may be more susceptible to sun damage for several weeks post-treatment.
Due to these potential risks and complications, it is recommended to choose an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon.
-
At home. Most patients experience about 3–4 days of redness and mild peeling.
-
During the healing period you’ll need to rest by avoiding strenuous exercise - think staycation. You’ll be able to perform your everyday activities (eating, bathing, light chores). Walking around your neighborhood (10-15 minutes) at an easy pace is encouraged. It will be important to avoid direct sun exposure and wear sun protection.
-
Brighter, smoother skin begins to appear within a week, with continued improvement over several weeks after treatment.

Breast augmentation:
at a glance
-
Breast augmentation surgery, also known as an augmentation mammoplasty, is performed in a certified surgery center as an outpatient. Patients are able to return home after surgery.
-
Surgery is typically less than 2 hours, but can vary from patient to patient.
Expect to arrive about an hour or so before surgery, and stay in the recovery area about that long before being able to return home.
-
Breast augmentation surgery is considered safe and generally has a very low risk of complication. However as with any surgical procedure, breast augmentation is not completely risk free and it does carry potential risks and complications.
Breast implants should not be considered life-long devices. It is more likely than not that at some point in the future additional surgery should be expected. This could be due to a number of different factors such as implant rupture, changes to the size and shape of the breast with age, or symptoms possibly related to the breast implants.
Potential complications to breast augmentation include:
Capsular Contracture: Scar tissue around the implant tightens, causing pain and distortion.
Implant Rupture or Leakage: Requiring further surgery for removal or replacement.
Infection: May require antibiotics or additional surgery to remove the infected implant.
Bleeding (Hematoma): Collection of blood that may require drainage or additional surgery.
Changes in Nipple or Breast Sensation: Can be temporary or permanent.
Scarring: Scars are permanent but typically fade over time.
Asymmetry: Differences in breast size or shape after surgery.
Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL): A rare type of lymphoma associated with textured breast implants. SoCal OncoPlastic Surgery does not use textured implants, but the risk of BIA-ALCL could still persist even using with smooth implants.
The most important thing is consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon to fully understand all of the risks.
